Where to Start: A Sephiria Reading Order
This wiki has more than 30 pages, and none of them tells you what order to read them in. This page does. It is not a difficulty ranking — it is a route through the site itself, built the way the beginner guide builds a route through a floor: what you need before the next choice makes sense.

Stage 0 — before your first run
Read exactly one page: the Beginner Guide. It covers what a run is made of, the five mistakes new players make, and the unlock order that matters. Nothing else on this site assumes less knowledge than this page does, which is why it is the only page in Stage 0.
Stage 1 — your first ten runs (dying productively)
Once you have a run or two under your belt, the next bottleneck is Sapphires, not skill. Read these two, in order:
- Destiny Inscription — the meta-progression tree your Sapphires buy into. Explains the buy order (Tablet, then Home Repairs, then Talent Points) and why the completion counter stops at 99%.
- Talents — the seven trees, free to respec, and why Endure 5 is close to free value for a first clear. Try a spread against the numbers with the Talent Planner before committing points.
Why this order: Destiny Inscription unlocks talent assignment in the first place (via Home Repairs), so reading talents before the tree explains a system you cannot use yet.
Stage 2 — understanding the build system
This is where Sephiria stops being "pick things up" and starts being "arrange things." Three pages, and they build on each other:
- Inventory Grid — the core mechanic: every cell carries a number, and that number is the level of whatever artifact sits in it. Tablets are emitters that push numbers onto cells.
- Combo Effects — the other system that gets confused with the grid: combos count artifact tags anywhere in the bag, placement irrelevant. Read this right after the grid page specifically because the two are the single most common thing new players conflate.
- Artifacts and Tablets — where the roughly 300 artifacts and 70 tablets actually come from, rarity and levels, and the two conversion devices (Mystic Pot, Tablet Combiner).
Why this order: the grid page defines the vocabulary (level, cell, tablet) that the combo and artifact pages both assume you already have.
Stage 3 — picking a weapon and a build
With the systems understood, the practical question becomes what to actually build toward:
- All Weapons — the six classes, how each unlocks through Moro's training quests, and where the two official upgrade-count statements disagree.
- Build Routes — four attributed community routes (Storm Cloud Great Sword, Ilonica Staff, Fire Blade, Ingenuity breadth), each naming its weapon line, talent spread and combo plan.
- Pick the individual weapon guide and build page matching whichever route you chose — the Dagger, Crossbow, Great Sword or Sword & Shield pages go deeper than the overview does. (Blade and Staff class pages are in progress.)
Why this order: Build Routes only makes sense once you know what the six weapons are, and the individual weapon pages only make sense once you have picked a route to chase.
Stage 4 — optimizing the grid you already have
Once you are holding real tablets and artifacts, two reference pages turn "eyeball it" into "solve it":
- Tablet Families — the four mechanically distinct tablet types (discrete offset, line, parity, edge-anchored) and which eighteen cannot be rotated.
- Tablet Solver and Placement and Tablet Layout Examples — the community SephiriaSolver tool, and five worked layouts (the Foundation row, Requital under Conviction, and others) that turn the abstract rules into something copyable.
Why this order: you cannot use a tablet solver productively before you know the four families it is choosing between.
Stage 5 — bosses, chapters and preparation
Progression through the story reshapes the same seven floors rather than adding new ones, which is worth understanding before you push forward blind:
- Chapter Walkthrough — how the six chapters restructure the tower and which achievements have a chapter window that closes.
- Chapters and Bosses — the full boss-to-floor mapping and the per-floor difficulty curve (enemy DEF).
- Boss Room Preparation Checklist — what to have before the boss door, compiled from documented clears. This site does not publish attack patterns, deliberately — see the checklist page for why.
Stage 6 — the long game
For players chasing 100% or a deep Hard Mode clear:
- Hard Mode — the modifier list, the one-tier-per-clear rule almost everyone misses, and the reward schedule up to tier 60.
- Achievements and the Achievement Tracker — all 27 achievements with live unlock rates; the tracker saves your ticks in your browser.
- Final Boss and Endings — preparing for the Chapter 6 finale and what the achievement data says about the true-ending route.
- Swift Regret Evasion Tank (Tier 50), Fire Blade / Solar Blade, Lightning Boomerang Spellbook — three fully documented high-tier builds, each naming its own weaknesses.
Reference pages you will come back to, not read start to finish
Some pages are not steps in a sequence — they are things you dip into once a build question needs them: Combo Tags and Key Artifacts, Wish Fountain, Damage Types, Run Events, Secret Rooms, Costumes, Co-op, the Glossary for any single term, and Common Misconceptions if you want the wrong-answer-versus-right-answer version of the same facts. The patch notes pages answer one question — did the latest update change the thing you just read — and every systems page links back to them.
FAQ
Do I need to read every page before I start playing? No. Stage 0 (the beginner guide) is the only prerequisite for actually launching a run. Everything after that is there for when a specific question comes up — read Stage 2 when the grid stops making sense, not before.
I already have 20+ hours in. Where do I start? Skip to Stage 3 if you have not picked a build route, or Stage 4 if your problem is specifically "I have tablets and don't know where to put them." The talent planner is worth a visit regardless of how far in you are, since it recalculates live against any spread.
Why does the site keep saying "not a tier list"? Because build routes, damage types and the tier-50 evasion build pages all state the same position explicitly: TEAM HORAY has never published a weapon or build ranking, no community survey backs one either, and printing one would be this site's own taste wearing a lab coat. Every "best" claim you will find here is a named, attributed opinion — not data.
Why doesn't this wiki cover boss attack patterns? The boss preparation checklist states the policy directly: a wrong tell sends you into a fight prepared for the wrong thing, and nothing in the public record documents movesets reliably enough to print with confidence. Preparation — what to have before the door — is documented instead, because it does not change patch to patch the way a dodge timing can.
Two pages give me different numbers for the same thing — which is right? Neither is wrong. This wiki's editorial policy is to print conflicting official numbers side by side rather than pick a winner — the Wish Fountain's Willpower capacity and the artifact/tablet counts (roughly 300 vs. 236 catalogued, roughly 70 vs. 62 catalogued) are the clearest examples, both explained on the artifacts and tablets page.
Is there a faster route to Hard Mode tier 50 than reading six stages of guides? The fastest real route is still to play: Stage 0 through Stage 3 covers everything you need for a first clear, and Stage 6 only becomes relevant once Destiny Inscription and your first weapon tree are largely done. Reading Stage 6 before you can use it will not make later runs faster.
Where do I report an error or a missing page? The editorial policy and contact page cover this — corrections are the most useful thing a reader can send, and they go live with the page's updated date moved.
