Sephiria Fire Blade Build: Solar Blade Katana and Furnace

The fire Blade — the katana line built around Solar Blade charges — is the build most often described as a training-dummy monster that underperforms in real fights. The player who wrote it up on Steam is unusually honest about that gap: on the Hard Mode 60 final boss it does "about a tenth" of its dummy damage, "13K DPS is decent, anything above is luck," with a 20K run attached as the ceiling. This page is the practical version of that guide — the four artifacts it calls mandatory, the pickup order, and the one item that turns a 10-second buff into 30.

The route is summarised on the builds overview; this page is the long form.

The dependency most write-ups miss

The Solar Blade katana consumes Solar Blade charges. It does not make them. Without a generator the weapon's special never starts, and the generator is an artifact, not a weapon upgrade: the Furnace. The guide is blunt — "without the Furnace it simply will not start; bring it through the Wish Fountain."

That single fact reorganises the run. You are not looking for a katana upgrade; you are looking for a bag that manufactures charges fast enough to keep the buff stacked. The 太陽劍系列 — the Solar Blade artifact series — lives in the artifact system, and the katana is only the thing that spends it.

The four mandatory artifacts

ArtifactTagWhy it is mandatory
Bloodstone Earrings (lifesteal)"Unless you are a no-hit god, everyone recommends it." The tier 50 guide names the same item and warns it is a trap before your defence is up.
FurnaceSolar BladeGenerates the charges the katana consumes. Fountain it in.
Shoulder GuardSolar BladeRecovers spent charges instantly so you are not picking them up off the floor mid-fight; when the buff drops, the guard restarts it.
Sheet Music (Wind Sheet Music)Wind SongAttack range. "Without the sheet music there is no range to play with."

And one the guide puts just below mandatory: the Pure White Cloak. The Solar Blade buff lasts 10 seconds base. In 10 seconds the Furnace produces about two blades, so every cycle after the first caps at two stacks. The cloak extends the buff to 30 seconds, and at 30 seconds the loop sustains six-plus stacks. It is the difference between the build working and the build looking like it works on a dummy.

The English names above are our translations from the guide's Traditional Chinese (吸血石, 熔爐, 護肩, 樂譜, 純白斗篷). Wind Sheet Music and Bloodstone Earrings are confirmed under those names in the English-language tier 50 guide; the other three we have not seen printed in English and you should match them by effect.

Pickup order

The guide's priority, reproduced as written:

Pendulum > Solar Blade series > Wind Song series ≥ Precision series ≥ Elemental series > +Fire damage > other damage.

  • Pendulum (Sturdy) gives a large normal-attack damage multiplier and is the one Sturdy item worth taking; the rest of the Sturdy tag is "too low value for the cost."
  • Solar Blade series: take the three without hearts. Skip the spellbook one ("useless") and the throw-damage one; the charge-cap one is fine but not urgent.
  • Wind Song: take on sight. The silver bracelet and pinwheel are optional.
  • Precision: the three crit-damage pieces and the legendary first.
  • Elemental: reaching Elemental 6 is "simple, brutal base damage." The left three items are the ones you want; the right two are acceptable to reach the threshold.
  • Ember is the secondary fire source but "too scattered" — taking it early pollutes the artifact pool and makes the mandatory pieces harder to find.
  • Alchemy: the Potato's defence-ignore is useful on high tiers. The Traveller's Blessing lists "true damage", which the guide says is "purely useless in the current version."
  • Untagged: White Paper counts toward Elemental; the Key adds fire damage; the Keyhole only if you happen to hold a blue-framed tablet.

For survival beyond Bloodstone: Elastic Band is optional, and only worth pairing with Lerid's Battle Bracelet if you find it.

Managing the artifact pool

This is the part of the guide that is genuinely about Sephiria's systems rather than this build. Artifacts already in your bag raise the drop chance of their tag — the combo bonus is roughly +100% per the author, and a Fruit Skewer with the Carrot adaptive modifier adds +25% per piece up to +75%. Two consequences:

  1. Starting as the Red-Clothed Cat gives you an Ember fire bolt in the bag. Park it in the Side Bag until the mandatory pieces are in, then bring it out when you want fire damage to start showing up. (Items in the Side Bag are inactive as of 1.0.19, which is exactly what you want here.)
  2. Among Elemental items, the one carrying the Lake tag pollutes the pool with Lake combo weight — take it last.

A later addition to the guide (14 August): at a Mystic Pot, a single legendary you do not want can be rerolled — "50 leaves each time, keep rolling legendaries." The pot's behaviour changed in 1.0.19 (one artifact into another of the same rarity, or two into one of higher rarity) and since 1.0.30 the pot is drawn as broken once its uses are gone, so you can see at a glance whether it has anything left.

What the numbers actually are

The guide's own run diary is the honest benchmark: a run with good early pickups and bad late ones ended "only 10K+ DPS — normal level." A 16 August entry tried the White Wolf costume as a speedrun variant and called it "thrilling without invincibility." Those are the author's readings, not ours, and Sephiria has no developer-published damage table to check them against.

Patch notes that touch this build

1.0.23 fixed Solis Iubar triggering a different special attack when MP was 150 or higher — if you run a high-MP variant, be on 1.0.23 or later. 1.0.30 made certain Solar Blade animations respect the transparency option, which is cosmetic but useful when six stacks of blades are on screen. No Solar Blade artifact or Blade weapon value has been rebalanced through 1.0.30; the Blade line's launch state is on the weapons page.
