Sephiria Common Misconceptions Corrected
Every wrong answer below has actually circulated about Sephiria — on auto-generated wikis, in Discord shorthand, or in older versions of this site's own pages. Each entry here is corrected against a Steam patch note or an on-site page that already did the checking; none of it is new research. Grouped by topic, with a link to the full explanation for each.

The build system
"Wisdom level 10 gives +2 combo." No. Wisdom 10 unlocks [Unique] Stacking: duplicate artifacts get offered, and taking one adds a star to the copy you already hold rather than giving you a second item. TEAM HORAY explicitly stated the doubling effect was not extended to combo-changing artifacts like Chalcedony Key and White Paper "due to technical issues," and separately fixed a UI bug that displayed a combo increase that was never actually applied. Full breakdown on talents and combo effects.
"Combos and grid combination are the same system." They are not, and conflating them is described on this site as the single most common way to misread a build guide. Combos count artifact tags anywhere in the bag — placement is irrelevant. Grid combination is tablet buffs summed per cell — counting is irrelevant, it is pure geometry. See combo effects.
"Mystic doubles a random artifact." That is TEAM HORAY's own original October 2025 wording, but by 1.0 the community tooling models it as doubling the net value of up to three chosen cells, negatives included — and the two descriptions have never been publicly reconciled. Both are printed on the inventory grid page rather than one being picked as correct.
"Völuspá is a Sephiria artifact." It circulates widely on auto-generated wikis but appears in no Steam announcement, on the store page, or in the community dataset this wiki cites. Until a primary source names it, it is not listed here. See artifacts and tablets.
"A tablet's buff value has no cap." The largest confirmed single-cell buff is +5, held by Conviction, and maximum discrete reach is 3 cells (Manhattan distance). Whether stacked cell totals have a cap at all is unconfirmed — TEAM HORAY has never published one. See tablet families.
Damage and combat
"Chaos is a fifth damage element." It is not a fifth attribute sitting alongside Fire, Ice, Lightning and Physical — since the October 2025 combo revamp, Chaos damage counts as all four at once, which is why Fire-specific bonuses appear to trigger on attacks that are not Fire. Full explanation on damage types.
"Execute deals a flat 400% damage." That was the previous definition. Since the same October 2025 update, Execute instead doubles your own critical-hit damage multiplier and counts as a crit — worth more to a build that already stacked crit damage, worth nothing extra to one that did not. See damage types.
"There's a Sephiria damage formula you can look up." No formula for how attributes, True Damage, Ignore Defense and enemy Defense combine has ever been published. Anyone showing you an exact number is reconstructing it, not quoting TEAM HORAY. Explained on damage types.
Names and spelling
"It's the Wishing Fountain." The official English name in patch notes is Wish Fountain. "Wishing Fountain" is older community shorthand, including in earlier versions of this site's own pages. See Wish Fountain.
"The mercenary's name is Colin." Patch notes themselves are inconsistent — 0.7.35 spells it Colin, 1.0.24 spells it Collin. This wiki prints both rather than picking one. See the boss preparation checklist.
"Chapter 5 is called 'The Rooted Cave.' Chapters in Sephiria have numbers and nothing else — no first-party source gives them titles or themes. The Rooted Cave is a floor name, not a chapter name; any page naming chapters that way invented the title. See chapter walkthrough.
"A tablet called Spike exists." A 2025 patch note describes a tablet named "Spike" whose effect matches the current tablet Dry. No tablet named Spike exists in the current game — that page predates a rename. See tablet families.
Numbers that don't reconcile — and why that's not an error
"The wiki should just pick one artifact/tablet count." TEAM HORAY says "about 300 artifacts" and "about 70 tablets." A community data audit at patch 1.0.24/1.0.25 counts 236 artifacts and 92 tablets (a separate tablet dataset catalogues 62 with full mechanics). Those numbers do not agree, and per this site's editorial policy, conflicts get printed side by side rather than resolved. See artifacts and tablets.
"The Wish Fountain's max capacity is confirmed." It is not. The same 0.10.0 announcement states Willpower's maximum was "reduced from 6 to 5" and, two lines later, lists per-level bonuses that sum to 4 base + 5 from the talent — which is not a maximum of 5. TEAM HORAY has not reconfirmed either figure since. See Wish Fountain and talents.
What the game does or doesn't have
"Sephiria has New Game Plus." No source documents one. The post-game loop, as far as anything published shows, is Hard Mode depth, the true-ending achievement route if skipped, and costume/achievement chases. See final boss and endings.
"Costumes are purely cosmetic." Sources disagree — one outlet calls them cosmetic, another documents a fixed passive stat trade-off on each earnable one, and a Steam discussion thread debates the balance of one costume's perks, which is not a conversation people have about pure visuals. This site treats costumes as build decisions on the stronger evidence. See costumes.
"Duplicate items not merging in co-op is a bug." It is not — duplicates only merge and upgrade for players who have taken Wisdom level 10 ([Unique] Stacking). Without it, two copies stay two separate items, by design. See co-op.
"Secret rooms only exist on floors 1–5." That claim comes from this site's own beginner guide, and a first-party 0.10.10 patch note says hidden rooms were added to Chapter 4 Woodlands events around the same time — which undercuts a fixed floor range as a complete description. Both accounts are printed rather than reconciled. See secret rooms.
"Kovess and Kraz are the same boss with two names." The likelier reading is that they are two distinct bosses: the achievement Gatekeeper of the Mind is explicitly described as defeating the "second Guardian Demon of Qliphoth," which only makes sense if there are two. Not a direct developer statement, but the strongest evidence available. See chapters and bosses.
Why this page exists
Nothing above is a new claim — every correction already lived on a longer page before this one existed. What repeating them here does is put the wrong version next to the right one in the same sentence, which is the form a misconception is actually recognized in, not the form it gets corrected in. If you came here having heard one of these somewhere else, the linked page has the full sourcing. If you are earlier in your run and want the pages in a sensible order rather than by topic, the reading order guide lays out the whole site stage by stage.
