Sephiria Destiny Inscription: Every Node, What First
Destiny Inscription is Sephiria's meta-progression tree, reached by talking to the Tree. It is where the Sapphires you earn by dying go, and it is the reason early runs matter even when they end on floor 2.
Full completion costs 383 Sapphires across twelve tiers, distributed 0 / 3 / 2 / 7 / 34 / 55 / 57 / 35 / 54 / 77 / 31 / 28. That ninth-tier spike is real — it is the single most expensive band in the tree.
How it unlocks
Nodes connect by lines. You must own at least one rank of a prerequisite node before the next along the line becomes purchasable. Some nodes are free; the rest cost Sapphires.
Sapphires come from dying, scaled to how deep you got and how many bosses you killed, and they are also spent in-run — at the Dimensional Rift, at Double Doors, at the Chest of Possibilities, and on costume appearance variants (30 for an alternate look, 100 for a second).
The buy order that matters
Tablet is free and first. Tablets are gated content: until you buy this, tablet nodes and tablet objects do not appear in runs at all. Everything about the build system is downstream of it.
Home Repairs is second. It unlocks Talent Point assignment — without it your talent points have nowhere to go — and every Tier-3 node requires it. It also grants the DIY achievement, which 91.5% of players have, making it the most-unlocked achievement in the game.
After that:
- Talent Points ×5 — five nodes granting +1 / +2 / +3 / +4 / +5, for 25 points.
- Expanding Pouch (1) and (2) — three ranks each of +1/+2/+3, for +6 inventory slots, exactly one extra row on the 6-wide grid.
- A second weapon — see below.
- Seed Money — start runs with 200, then 400 Leaf.
- Dice (1)(2)(3) — up to 6 starting dice, plus Dice Acquisition (+2 on boss kill) and Dice Transformation (+1 when you skip a reward).
The five weapon unlocks
This is the part guides most often get half-right. Buying the node is not enough — each weapon requires completing a training quest with Moro in the village training grounds afterwards.
| Node | Unlocks |
|---|---|
| Heavy Weapon Training | Great Sword |
| Nimble Weapon Training | Dagger |
| Ranged Weapon Training | Crossbow |
| Sharp Weapon Training | Blade |
| Graceful Weapon Training | Staff |
With the starting Sword & Shield that accounts for all six classes. Older guides list only Longsword, Dagger and Crossbow because they predate the Blade (0.8.11) and Staff (0.11.0). Once every weapon is unlocked, a random weapon option becomes available at run start.
The quality-of-life nodes
Several nodes are side quests rather than stat purchases, and they unlock systems rather than numbers:
- Terrain Recovery — opens the Willpower (Luck) talent tree. Involves a hole in the Ark and a puzzle.
- Magic Workshop — adds the Potion Bag, two slots reserved for potions only.
- Basement — unlocks alternate appearances for every costume.
- Fruit Skewer — lets you bias which combos' items appear, set before a run.
- Wishing Fountain — carry chosen items into a run; base capacity 4, extendable to 8 via the Willpower talent.
- Chest of Possibilities — spend Sapphires to restock merchant stock. In multiplayer each player's rolls and costs are private, doubling 2 → 4 → 8 → 16.
- Rylie's Gift — start every run with a free Restoration Potion.
- Side Bag (1) and (2) — added in 1.0. Storage for spare items. Remember that items in the Side Bag are inactive.
- Hide and Seek — a village quest node.
The stat nodes
- Increase HP (1) and (2) — +5/+10 each, +20 Max HP total
- MP Regeneration — +3 / +6
- Extra Experience Drop — +10%
- Level Up Restoration — +3% / +6% / +9% / +12% HP restored on level-up
- New Artifacts (1)–(8) and Bond Artifact — pool expansions. New Artifacts (1) adds 21 magic artifacts; the Bond Artifact node adds 23 Bond Artifacts.
Hard Mode sits here too
The Hard Mode node is free and lives in the roots of the tree, but it requires clearing Chapter 2 before it becomes available. It moved here in 0.7.55 — it used to be a pure Destiny Inscription unlock, and became a dialogue keyword with the Tree instead. If that dialogue stops appearing after you clear Chapter 4, a later patch added the ability to unlock it from the Destiny Inscription menu directly.
Why you will never see 100%
Multiple players with every purchasable node at maximum rank report the completion counter reading 99%. The top of the tree — roughly eleven hexagons — is currently blank and unimplemented.
So the practical definition of "done" is 383 Sapphires spent, not a percentage. Do not spend runs hunting the last 1%; it is not there yet.
What this buys you in total
Fully completed, Destiny Inscription hands you: all six weapons, 25 Talent Points, +6 inventory slots, +2 potion slots, +20 Max HP, 400 starting Leaf, 6 starting dice plus two dice-generation effects, the Side Bag, the Wishing Fountain, the Fruit Skewer, costume variants, and several hundred additional artifacts in the drop pool.
Combined with the 20 Talent Points available from Hard Mode tier rewards, that is 45 Talent Points — enough to take three talents to 10 and one to 15, or to push two to the level-20 capstones.
Caveats
The node list above comes from a community compendium maintained against version 1.0.25, cross-checked against patch notes where possible. TEAM HORAY has never published the tree as a document. Two specific ambiguities: the Side Bag nodes are recorded as "+1/+1/+2 Side Bag Slot(s)" without clarifying whether those are cumulative, and the exact Sapphire cost of individual nodes is not published — only the tier totals are.
