Sephiria Solar Blade Combo: Charges and the Furnace

Solar Blade is the tag with the hardest dependency in Sephiria: the weapon most players build it around spends Solar Blade charges and does not produce a single one. The generator is an artifact. Miss that, and the katana's special never fires, and the build reads as broken rather than incomplete.

That one fact reorganises the run, which is why this tag gets a page of its own rather than a row. The build that documents it in full is the fire Blade; the counting rules for every tag are on the combo system page.

What the tag is, and what it is not

Solar Blade is one of the combo names that appears in TEAM HORAY's own text, so unlike several tags on this site it is not a community coinage. Its activation threshold, however, has never been published — it is absent from the only observed threshold list this site holds, which covers Guardian, Shadow, Magitech, Ember, Glacier, Elemental and Lake. Assume nothing about the count and watch the Combo Effect panel.

It is also not the same thing as fire damage. Ember is the general fire tag; Solar Blade is the charge economy that one weapon line consumes. A bag can be deep in Ember and hold no Solar Blade artifacts at all.

The mandatory pair

ArtifactRole
FurnaceGenerates the charges. The fire Blade guide's line is that without it the build simply will not start, and recommends bringing it in through the Wish Fountain
Shoulder GuardRecovers spent charges immediately, so you are not collecting them off the floor mid-fight, and restarts the buff when it drops

Those two are the engine. Everything else in the tag is throughput.

The Wish Fountain page generalises the Furnace into a rule that also covers the Glacier tag's Frostium Ring: carry the enabler, not the damage. An enabler deals nothing itself and converts a family of otherwise-dead artifacts into a build — and it biases future drops, because artifacts in the bag raise the chance their own tag is offered.

The cloak that decides whether the build works

The Solar Blade buff lasts 10 seconds at base. In that window the Furnace produces roughly two blades, so every cycle after the first tops out at two stacks. Pure White Cloak extends the buff to 30 seconds, and at thirty seconds the loop sustains six or more stacks.

The fire Blade author puts this just below mandatory, and the arithmetic explains why it belongs on any page about this tag: the cloak does not add damage, it triples the length of the window the rest of the tag is counted in. It is the difference between a build that looks strong on a training dummy and one that holds its stacks in a boss fight.

Which series pieces to take

The guide's instruction is to take the three Solar Blade series artifacts without hearts, skip the spellbook one — its word is useless — skip the throw-damage one, and treat the charge-cap piece as fine but not urgent. Its overall pickup order runs Pendulum first, then the Solar Blade series, then Wind Song, then Precision, then Elemental, then plain fire damage, then everything else.

Two notes on names. The English names above are this site's translations from the guide's Traditional Chinese, and only a few of them — Wind Sheet Music and Bloodstone Earrings among them — are confirmed under an English name elsewhere. Match by effect rather than by spelling. And the Solar Blade artifact series appears in the guide as 太陽劍系列, which is why it is sometimes described as a "series" rather than a tag.

Pool management: the Ember trap

The same guide gives the most useful pool-management advice on this site, and it is counterintuitive. Ember is a trap early, not because the artifacts are bad but because taking them pollutes the drop pool and makes the mandatory Solar Blade pieces harder to find. If you start as the Red-Clothed Cat costume you begin with a fire bolt grimoire in the bag — park it in the Side Bag, where items are inactive, until the core is in, then bring it out when you actually want fire to start appearing.

That is the same mechanic as the enabler rule, used defensively: your current bag is shaping your future offers, so an early artifact you do not need costs more than a slot.

Weapons and patches

The Blade line's Solis upgrade family is the one built for this tag, and a great sword variant exists — Solis Sineris — which the tier 50 author tried before settling on a different weapon. Two patch entries matter:

  • 1.0.23 fixed Solis Iubar firing the wrong special attack when MP was at or above 150. If you run a high-MP variant, be on that patch or later.
  • 1.0.30 made certain Solar Blade animations respect the transparency option, which is cosmetic and genuinely useful when six stacks of blades are on screen at once. The fire Blade build and build routes pages both state this; not confirmed: this site's own compiled 1.0.25–1.0.30 patch page does not list it, so treat the patch number as reported rather than independently checked against the primary notes.

No Solar Blade artifact and no Blade weapon value has been rebalanced through 1.0.30.

What the build is actually worth

The fire Blade author is candid that this is a tag with a dummy-damage reputation: against the Hard Mode 60 final boss the build does roughly a tenth of its training-dummy figure, with 13K DPS called decent and a 20K run given as the ceiling. Those readings are the author's, taken on an unnamed patch, and this site has not reproduced them. They are printed because they are the only published magnitudes for the tag and because the honesty is the useful part.

Not confirmed

Solar Blade's activation threshold is unpublished, and so are the charge cap, the charge generation rate and every artifact value on this page apart from the 10-second and 30-second buff durations the guide states. Several artifact names here are translations rather than confirmed English names. Whether the charge-cap series piece raises the cap by a fixed amount or a percentage is not documented anywhere this site can cite.
