Sephiria Endure Talent: The Free Foundation Tablet
Endure is the talent tree this site keeps recommending in a five-point dose and almost never recommends maxing, and the reason has nothing to do with defence. Each point is one point of DEF, which is the least interesting thing about the tree. The interesting thing is what arrives at level 5.

The three breakpoints
| Points spent | What arrives |
|---|---|
| 5 | Every run begins with a Foundation tablet in hand |
| 10 | Below a quarter of your health, you regain 1 HP per second |
| 20 | Death is converted once into a revive at 60% health |
Why five points buys more than twenty
Foundation is a line tablet: it adds one level to every cell in its row. The all-tablets page classes it as one of the two "+1 workhorses" — below Requital, which does +3 to a whole row, but above every discrete tablet in reach-per-cell terms. On a six-column board that is six cells lifted by one level, and the inventory grid page's arithmetic explains why that compounds: cell values add, so a Foundation row underneath a discrete tablet is a permanently higher floor for everything you later place there.
The part that makes it a talent recommendation rather than a tablet recommendation is when you get it. The all-tablets page lists the ways tablets reach you — tablet nodes, shops, the Mystic Pot in its pre-1.0 form, the Dimensional Rift, the Wandering Witch — and every one of those is a thing you have to find. Endure 5 is the only entry on that list that fires before the first room. The tablet layout examples page builds its opening layout on exactly that: a row you can plan around before the run has produced anything.
That is also why the five points recur across unrelated routes. The build routes page reaches for them on a lightning great sword route and again on a staff route that needs a baseline row established early; the boss preparation checklist treats "is the Foundation row doing work" as a standing pre-boss question alongside checking that a max-level-3 artifact is not parked on a +5 cell.
The level 10 line is better than it reads
One health per second below 25% health sounds like a trickle, and in a normal run it is. In Hard Mode it is one of very few heals the modifier list cannot switch off. Decline cuts healing received by up to 45%; Deterioration cuts level-up healing by up to 60%; Tension removes potions from boss fights entirely for a single tier. Those three attack the heal sources a build normally relies on — potions, level-ups, lifesteal items. A flat regeneration that keys off your own health percentage is the one line in this tree that the standard Hard Mode climb does not have an obvious answer to.
Whether Decline reduces the Endure 10 regeneration as "healing received" is not stated anywhere in this repo. Read the paragraph above as a structural argument, not a confirmed interaction.
The capstone, and why the routes skip it
A one-time revive at 60% health is a real capstone. It is also four times the cost of the Foundation line for a single insurance policy, and none of the four routes on the build routes page spends points there. The shape of the tree is unusual in that respect: the cheapest breakpoint is the one with the largest effect on how a run plays, and the most expensive one changes a single moment.
The per-point DEF deserves one sentence of defence itself. Twenty DEF is not nothing when Ferocious Claws is raising enemy damage in eight-point steps up to +56% and Protective Armor is adding enemy defence as stages progress — but flat DEF is a subtractive stat against a multiplicative modifier, and the repo publishes no formula for how DEF converts into damage reduction. That conversion is unconfirmed, so "20 DEF is worth X%" is not a claim this page will make.
A naming problem worth knowing about
The system requirements page records that several Sephiria systems have been renamed between patches — "fate engraving" became Destiny Inscription, "Stone Tablets" became Tablets — and that one talent has appeared as Survive, Endurance and Survival across translation passes. The talents page separately tracks an early-access-era guide referring to a talent called Patience that matches no current tree name, with Endure as the most likely candidate and no documented rename to confirm it.
Practically: if a guide written before 1.0 tells you to take "Endurance" for inventory space, it means the HP tree, not this one. If it tells you to take "Patience" for defence, it probably means Endure, and nobody has confirmed that. Check the tree's effects against your own screen rather than its name, and run any spread you copy through the talent planner before you commit it.
Where the points come from
The 45-point pool that all of this is priced against is 25 points from the Destiny Inscription — five nodes granting +1 through +5 — and 20 more from the Hard Mode tier ladder, which pays a talent point at tiers 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27 and 30, then +2 at 35, +3 at 40 and +5 at 50. Endure 5 is available from the first five Destiny Inscription points, before Hard Mode is unlocked at all, which is the last argument for it being the first purchase a new player makes.
